What Carwow.ie is
Carwow.ie is an independent Irish-market guide to buying electric vehicles. We publish plain-English explainers on EV running costs, the SEAI grant, charging networks and the buying process — written for a real Irish buyer, with prices in euro and references to Irish suppliers and regulators.
We also run a matched-quote service: you tell us what you're shopping for, we line up two or three Irish dealers (franchise or independent) whose stock and pricing fit your brief, and you take it from there directly with them.
What Carwow.ie isn't
Carwow.ie is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of Carwow Ltd. (United Kingdom) or carwow.co.uk. We don't operate their platform, we're not a Carwow reseller in Ireland, and we don't share your data with them. The carwow.ie domain name is used descriptively, in the sense of "Irish electric-vehicle buying", and not as a brand identifier for the UK Carwow business.
If you came here looking for the UK Carwow service, you can find it directly at carwow.co.uk.
Who's behind it
Carwow.ie is published by an independent Irish operator who also runs a small portfolio of editorial-led .ie sites in adjacent niches. We don't take money or briefs from manufacturers, dealer groups, or charging-network operators in exchange for placement. Editorial decisions are ours alone. Get in touch via editor@carwow.ie if you want to raise an editorial issue or suggest a correction.
How it makes money
The matched-quote service is monetised by a flat referral fee, charged to the Irish dealers who receive a brief from us — not to the buyer. The fee is flat, not percentage-based, so we have no incentive to push you toward a more expensive car. We disclose this on every page footer and in detail on the disclosure page.
We do not run display advertising, do not place affiliate links to carwow.co.uk or any other comparison site, and do not run sponsored "best of" lists. If a future revenue stream changes that, we'll disclose it before it goes live.
Editorial principles
- Numbers in euro, sourced. Every figure on running costs, grants, charging tariffs and tax cites a public source.
- No undisclosed promotion. If we ever take a payment, gift, demo car or hospitality from anyone in the industry, we'll say so on the relevant page.
- Clarity over cleverness. The site exists to make the EV decision less stressful. Long-form explainers beat snappy listicles.
- Corrections welcome. If we get something wrong, email editor@carwow.ie; we'll correct and date the change.
